(FYI - Photo attached is of my mother and I on a recent trip to NYC.) I am of the view that education should foster a diverse array of learning techniques, in order to respect the fact that people have different learning and development styles. It is my desire to create a safe environment, where students are not afraid to take the risk of making mistakes as part of the learning and growth process. Teachers use their knowledge of how people learn to actually facilitate the learning process, and their knowledge of subject matter or craft in order to provide the best learning experience for their students. These optimal learning experiences empower people as they learn subject matter, such as the English language, and empower them to take responsibility of their education. Acknowledging that students’ learning styles are different, I would use different techniques - formal and informal - to engage students.
